A lot of us think that making an effort to save money will mean that we have to completely transform our lives and live a lesser lifestyle than we’re sued to. This does not necessarily have to be the case. Although lowering your standards in some areas can really help you to save a lot of money, it is possible to make smaller changes and swaps to bring outgoings down too.
With that in mind, here are a few things you can do to save money while maintaining your current lifestyle:
In the UK, we throw away millions of tonnes of food every year. That means we are all spending a significant amount of money on food we never eat. If you regularly have to throw out food because it’s gone bad, you could easily save money on your food shop while still eating to the same standards by planning your meals for the week and only buying the ingredients you need to make those meals.
If you want an Audi or a BMW, for example, instead of leasing a car, why not look for a used model instead? You can find lots of high-quality used cars at the top and bottom of the scale and companies like Quick Car Credit will offer you finance even if you have poor credit. This will almost always be cheaper than leasing in the long-term and you will actually own your car. As long as you’re savvy and you choose your car well, you shouldn’t have any problems.
Rent Designer Clothing
If you’re someone who loves labels and you can’t imagine turning up to that big event not wearing something by Vivienne Westwood or Dior, don’t worry – you can still look amazing and save money. As with cars, you could buy used, but designer clothes do tend to hold their value well, so you may also want to consider renting your evening wear from one of the many companies who now offer that service. Not only will you be able to dress amazingly well, but you’ll be able to wear a new outfit for each and every one of those big events. Your friends will be green with envy!
Switch to Streaming
If you’re paying £30-50 or more each month for TV packages like Sky or Virgin Media, you could save a huge amount of money by switching to the likes of Netflix and AmazonPrime instead. You’ll still have access to lots of new and amazing content, but you won’t be tied down and you will be able to better pick and choose what you want to watch when you want to watch it.
Make Your Own
Whether it’s takeout coffees or expensive sandwiches from Pret that do it for you, you could almost certainly save hundreds even thousands each year by making your own. It’s easy to find copycat recipes for the best high street treats online, so you won’t miss out but you will save money.
Saving doesn’t have to be a core!
