There’s a common myth out there that being eco-friendly costs money. It’s no surprise when you step into health food stores and see the prices. Many vegan food alternatives are pretty pricey. Environmentally sound washing products could give you a heart attack for how expensive they are.
But, it’s important to note that many of these items are sky-high because they’re popular. It’s a simple case of supply and demand. You’re in the business world; you understand that concept already. But, it’d be a mistake to assume all green options are going to set you back. This is especially the case given the increasing pressure on businesses to do their bit. After all, companies can produce three or four times the waste emissions of a private home. Only, business is all about saving money, and opting for the green life isn’t going to help in that sense. Or, is it?
In truth, it’s easy for things to get expensive here. Those biodegradable, bleach-free, fairtrade tea bags are sure to cost you. But, there are some options here which could save you money. Yes, you heard right. Read on to find out what they are.
Power to paperless
We’re sure this isn’t the first time you’ve heard about going paperless. It’s the next big thing, and you may want to jump on the bandwagon. As well as obvious environmental benefits, this could save you a hefty sum. There may be some upfront cost for getting old files transferred into digital. But, that’ll be nothing compared with the paper you would have paid for in the future. And, it’s not just paper you’re saving on. You can even do away with many stationery expenses. So, why not give it a go?
Opt for recycling
Recycling sounds expensive. You’ll have to hire private companies, skips, and all the rest. But, that upfront cost might not be as painful as you think. After all, putting a business worth of rubbish in landfill usually comes at a price anyway. You could take this gradually, by using metal collection services offered by companies like A&M Metals and Waste. This will be no different to what you do at the moment, but you have the company’s assurance they recycle where they can. Or, you could go all with full-blown recycling efforts. With research, you may even be able to find a company who will pay to take your recycling away and sell it on. So, you’ll save and make money at the same time.
Cut your bills
This might be obvious, but we couldn’t not mention it. One of the best things your company can do is switch off lights and reduce electricity use. And, guess what? That can save you a load of money. The majority of businesses waste money on shocking bills here each month. And, in the process, they do untold damage to our environment. But, getting into the habit of switching off could be the best way forward for your pockets and planet.
